WHY VAPING IS THE SMARTER ALTERNATIVE? Tobacco Cigarette smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, and among those, 69 are known carcinogens [source: American Lung Association]. It's not only smokers who are impacted by the effects of cigarettes; as many as 2.5 million nonsmokers have died from the lethal effects of secondhand smoke between 1964 and 2014 [source: CDC].
THE SMARTER ALTERNATIVE Controlled Nicotine Levels: Electronic cigarettes are smoke-free and tobacco-free. They can even be nicotine free. The liquid in electronic cigarettes is typically a combination of nicotine, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin and flavoring. The amount of nicotine depends on the mixture of the particular e-liquid. The amount of nicotine in the e-liquid can range from as much as a non-filtered cigarette, to as little as an ultra-light cigarette. The user can even get liquid that contains zero nicotine
No Flame Means No Carcinogens: You'll never worry about misplacing your lighter or your matches if you're smoking an e-cigarette -- there's nothing to light. Instead, e-cigarettes run on a lithium battery; Because they don't burn tobacco, there's no smoke, no carcinogens, no carbon monoxide and no odor; what you inhale is vapor not smoke.
You Will Save a Ton of Money: Smokers with a pack-a-day habit spend more than $2,000 per year to get the nicotine fix they crave, and in most instances electronic cigarettes are much cheaper. The equivalent of a pack-a-day habit can cost about $750 per year by using an electronic cigarette.
Your Overall Health will Change: Several e-cigarette smokers, or vapers as they’re called, report that they no longer suffer nasty phlegmy coughs (which could again be linked to the tar). Many smokers suffer shortness of breath when carrying out strenuous exercise (or sometimes just walking up stairs), as well as an inability to hold their breath for a prolonged period of time. Both of which are problems that e-cigarette users have found to decrease and eventually cease completely. No more yellow fingernails. No more stained teeth. No more foul smelling skin, clothes or furniture.
What’s In Your E-Liquid?
Propylene Glycol (PG) Most commonly it is the main ingredient in e-liquid. It provides more “throat hit” and carries the desired flavorings more than VG, slightly sweet and colorless. USP approved propylene glycol is used in cosmetics, toiletries, food colorings, cake mixes, salad dressings, soft drinks and more.
Vegetable Glycerin (VG) Smoother, slightly thicker and sweeter than PG. Produces more vapor and less "throat hit". USP approved glycerin is used in 1500+ applications as an additive to food and drink. Glycerin can be found in the baking or craft areas in grocery, hobby and department stores. It can also be found in pharmacies.
It is time to make the switch. But don’t take our word for it. Do your research and you will find right away that many former smokers believe is the safer alternative from their own experience.
